This page is intended to help the lay-person easily identify common birds and get further information. The data is extracted from "The Book of Indian Birds" by Salim Ali. Pictures are from Wikipedia and each species points to the relevant Wikipedia page for further information.
This is a simple pictorial list of the commonest birds (in my opinion) that one is likely to see in urban Bombay. In greener areas like IIT and the Borivali National Park, one is obviously likely to see many more species.
This allows you to select criteria like size, colours and other features detailed in the tables at the beginning of Salim Ali's book for quick identification. The results include multiple pictures (where available) and a link to the relevant Wikipedia page for more details.
